How long has Affinity Bank been open?
Affinity Bank is a new bank with a long history. It was successfully established in 2002 as Atlanta Business Bank, and provided small businesses with a full array of financial services. In 2010, as we expanded those offerings to individuals, we changed our name to Affinity Bank to better represent our dedication to all our clients.
Why are you rates so competitive?
The Affinity Bank model, without a branch network and leveraging technology, allows us to keep our operating costs low and pass those savings on to our clients in the form of higher rates and fewer account fees.
The Affinity Bank model? What is that?
In expanding our services, we had an opportunity that most banks do not. As a successful business bank we invested in technology, service and infrastructure within our organization versus infrastructure in terms of branches. Because we built the bank in this way, we don’t have the overhead that most other banks do and can offer our clients a better experience.
But I like branches. I like walking in and knowing each teller. I like knowing that when I have a problem I have a place to go.
We understand completely. And we thought long and hard before we came to the decision not to pursue a branch approach. But when we looked at the cost – a branch costs in the neighborhood of $1 million a year to operate – we thought that there were better uses of that money, ones that could directly benefit your bottom line. Things like better rates on our checking and savings products. Fee-free transactions. Ways we can save you money, or better yet, help you earn more.
But what about the convenience factor?
We happen to be of the opinion that bank branches are on the verge of becoming obsolete. We currently use Mobile & Remote Deposit, which enables you to deposit a check into your account from anywhere. To us, that 24/7/365 availability in the comfort of your own home is the ultimate in convenience. Free Online Bill Pay, which all our accounts are set up for, and easy transfers between accounts, sure beat fighting traffic and standing in line.
